Whith the US department of juctice closing the four biggest poker sites in the World to US players there have been some questions raised as to the safety of Canadian players funds at the Big Four - PokerStars, Full Tilt Poker, UB and Absolute Poker.
The amounts of funds frozen by the US DOJ is unknown and whether they were players funds is likely definate according to Full Tilt Poker. Currently Canadians can apparently withdraw any amount from either PokerStars or Full Tilt and are limited to $250 per player per week at UB and Absolute Poker.
As to whether these sites are still safe to play at looks better especially for Full Tilt and PokerStars. At UB - the fact that they are allowing players to withdraw $250 per week is a positive development and is likely a very responsible action on thier part as the continuing operation is vital to keeping the players funds safe at this point in time. Based on thier actions it may well be that the DOJ may have siezed more of thier funds than PokerStars or Full Tilt. The actions of the DOJ do contravine international Law and are in violation of the World Trade Organization where there is a case pending aginst the United States Government in regards to thier actions regarding online poker sites. They are interfering with international players.
In the mean time as this is all sorted out the best poker sites for Canadians to Play at remain tose that have no USA exposure. The Best Sites include PKR Poker, 888Poker.com, and Party Poker.
